PLANTEM Short Spear and Short Dibber, tree planting spades, lying side by side on an old mossy tree stump

Tree Planting Spears & Dibbers

Typical spades are used to dig holes, ideal for planting young trees with root balls. Blades are usually angled at the shaft to lift and carry soil.

Planting Spears or Dibbers are designed for slot or notch planting smaller bare root and cell grown saplings, quickly, without digging up soil. The blade is parallel to the shaft, narrow and long, helping to make vertical slots or cuts.

PLANTEM® Spears

For Slot planting bare-root tree and hedge saplings. Our standard Spear is typically recommended for woodland creation and hedge planting projects using tree guards, the Tall Spear for those needing a little extra height to reduce bending.

The Short Spear helps in high volume planting, speed planting without guards eg uplands/conifer, or large hedgerow projects if you prefer to work close to the ground.
