Traditional Two Slot or Notch planting technique.

Traditional Two Slot or Notch planting technique.

Highlighting/refreshing the traditional Two Slot or Notch planting technique. Whether its bare-root stock or cell grown saplings, the technique is quicker than pit digging but needs basic care to minimise air pockets around the roots . . . . that's what the second slot is for.

Shown with the PLANTEM® Short Dibber and cell grown tree saplings but applicable to bare root stock with the PLANTEM® Spear (or other tree planting spades). Just be mindful that traditional spades with pressed blades/sockets and riveted shafts are typically made to lift weight in one direction, to dig holes. PLANTEM's range is designed/tested for strength in both directions, push and pull, to lever open pockets in difficult soils and terrain too.
